I'm searching for more information on my ancestors, Archibald MacGregor and his wife Edith MacAlpine. I have them being married in North Carolina. What I have seen on the ancestry sites is that Archib...I'm searching for more information on my ancestors, Archibald MacGregor and his wife Edith MacAlpine. I have them being married in North Carolina. What I have seen on the ancestry sites is that Archibald was wounded at the battle of Culloden and retreated in the mountains until well enough to immigrate to North Carolina to avoid the Highland Clearances.
They had one daughter, Ann MacGregor. Ann Married Captain Henry Connelly and one of their daughters, Rachel Connelly is my 4th great grandmother.
I am getting conflicting information for the history of Archibald MacGregor. What I have is that Archibald was the son of James Mor Drummond MacGregor and grandson of Robert Roy (Rob Roy) MacGregor.
However, I can't find evidence that Archibald was the son of James Mor Drummond MacGregor when I search Scottish records. He is not listed as a child.
Anyone have any sources or knowledge to support this information?
