I'm British with (in alphabetical order!) English, Scottish and Welsh ancestors. My Gt Gt Grandfather was Joseph Baillie of Dundee - born 1823. He and his wife Mary were Dundee born. Joseph was an Overseer/Manager in the Jute Mills industry . He and Mary went to work in Jute Mill in France (whereabouts unknown). Whilst they had four daughters (birth certificates state "British citizen")one of them was Christina (my Gt Grandmother). Joseph and family subsequently returned to UK and came to live and work in Barrow Jute & Flax Mills in my home town (Barrow in Furness, Lancashire). Joseph and Mary had 2 sons whilst living in Barrow. Joseph died in Barrow in 1893.
I am interested in learning more about Dundee, it's Jute industry and wonder if there are any other Baillie's out there who may be related?
If not, always interested in any Clan matters!
Sorry for being so long-winded - Thanks for getting this far!
Best Wishes to all!
