Hi Graeme, have you been to this castle? You are sooo lucky to live in Scotland! It's a gorgeous country. The Scots I've met (a few) were great people. A few guys from Scotland came into the restaurant I was working in (years ago) and after talking with them a bit, one of them graciously spoke some gaelic so that I could hear the language which my great Grandfather spoke. I'll always remember that young man's kindness to me.
I have visited Dunnotter a few times and regularly drive past. It is quite remote from the parking and there are gazillions of stairs but worth every minute.

I think there are nice folks and not so nice folks all over the world. I have only visited The States once, last year when my daughter got married in New York. The New Yorker doesn't enjoy a favorable reputation here in the UK. Rash, aggressive and rude but I have to dispel that myth because everyone we met were polite and friendly and helpful even the motorcycle cop I asked for directions. I was very impressed with New York and the lovely people we met there.
