I'm spending part of my retirement trying to get further back than my g-g-g-grandfather, William Grant, in Harrison County, Indiana. This is as far as records can take me with any surety. Autosomal ...I'm spending part of my retirement trying to get further back than my g-g-g-grandfather, William Grant, in Harrison County, Indiana. This is as far as records can take me with any surety. Autosomal DNA substantiates that he came to Indiana with his father and three brothers. My y-DNA links me to Grants in South Carolina. I've begun the process of cross-matching Grants listed in the U.S. Censuses, 1790-1840. Unfortunately, the most likely source--Virginia--is missing in the early ones. Any ideas? One family legend suggests transportation from Scotland for backing the losing contender for the throne.
