My male cousin had his DNA done and it came back as MacGregor from near Stirling, Scotland near the original seat of the Clan MacGregor. He believes that our ancestors were members of the famous Rob Roy MacGregor's Clan but not blood relatives. So we are very proud of our heritage.
We can trace back to Patrick Gregory from Ireland in our genealogy research and his widow Bridget came to America from Belfast, Ireland on the ship Carolina Ann with her children and arrived in New York on April 7, 1826 at the age of 40. And thus we descend. Most of us currently live in South Central Pennsylvania, USA.
Interesting as that all is and exciting also. My cousin had them go even further back with his DNA and it revealed the names Longacre and Buchanan from about 800-1000AD from Gothenburg, Sweden. These were our Viking ancestors! My cousin says that if you draw a straight line across the ocean from Gothenberg to Scotland you end up right near Stirling! So he believes that our Viking ancestors assimilated into the Clan so very long ago.
My DNA testing also confirms some Scandinavian DNA. So that's our origin story and it's a very interesting and exciting one!

We can trace our lineage back to Patrick Gregory born 1772 Dublin, Ireland but can trace further back to Stirling Scotland. Possibly part of Rob Roy MacGregor's clan but no blood relationship through DNA research by a male cousin.
Clan Graham from Patrick Graham born 1747 Tyrone County, Ulster, Ireland
Clan MacKay from the McKee family from Alexander McKee born 1665 Strathnaver, Scotland
I am currently researching all my Scottish and Irish roots.
But I have been able to trace back to the mid 1800's if I count my 2X Greatgrandparents - but I don't know their names nor do their names appear on any docs that I can find. I just know they lived in Ireland and that my 1Xgreatgrandparents were both born t...
