This line, with but a couple leaps of faith, started in the Virginia colonies banished as traitors to the crown following the 1715 Jacobite rebellion. That direct connection is a coin toss, but another of similar fate could easily have been the start of the first generation in the colonies by 1724, if memory serves. Clarification seems unlikely.
