My Bruce ancestors, two brothers of the Bruce Clan, came over on the ship Harmony circa 1789, this ship made many trips to the New World with Scots. One brother (Donald) settled near Merigomish in Nova Scotia and the other later went to Shelburne, NS. I played in a girls pipe band (The Ceilidh Girls) in my teen years and also for a summer with the Dundee Ladies in Dundee, Scotland. I find genealogy fascinating, complex and often frustrating. Still, it attracts so many of us. I travel to the UK once a year, have many friends there and find that the connections through history bind us very nicely. It's easy for a Canadian of Scottish heritage to relate to others who share the mixed history and who celebrate it's conversation. I'm 68.
