Empty into a mixing bowl a jar (28-32 oz.) of your favorite applesauce (any kind, any style) and add a 16 oz. can/pkg. of sauerkraut to it. (Do NOT drain). Mix it well. The idea is to have twice as much applesauce as sauerkraut. (

Yes, you can add brown sugar or sweetener if you prefer. Taste it and see if you like it "as is" or think it needs to be sweeter.
Take a greased casserole dish (I use an 8 inch square one) and empty one package of hot dogs into it (14-16 oz.) OR 1 lb. of kielbasa. I usually slice the kielbasa and leave hot dogs whole.
Spoon the applesauce/sauerkraut mixture on top of the cold hot dogs or kielbasa. Bake in 350 degree oven until top is nice and golden brown, about 30-40 minutes.
Serve in hot dog rolls with potato or macaroni salad on the side.... or enjoy with buttered hot French/Italian bread and a salad.
