that is the border country a lot of tourist pass it by and head for the highlands so miss out on the scenery and history of the area.

I guess folks tend to think of Scotland in terms of Highlands and don't think of the lowlands as being representative of the "real" Scotland. But as your picture proves, Scotland's beauty goes far beyond her mountains.
