We were lucky enough to go over to the World's largest Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain this year.

the moon that night was incredible. Bats also started flying around. Heard on the news that it was a 'super' moon. So appeared larger. Did add nicely to the atmosphere.

A young boy runs the circuit around the field and lights the next lot of clans peoples' tourches.

Everyone getting in place to watch the tourchlight ceremony. We were directed to the slope on the left hand side - supposidly this is the best place.

On Friday night at Grandfather Mountain is the tourchlight ceremony. Was so glad we got to see it. Each clan announced themselves then added their tourch to what looked like a big wooden star in the middle. Loved the theatre of this - would be great to see this happen over here.Thomas Gray likes this.Thomas GrayWould love to see Highland games in Scotland.
