To all Bell, Beal, Beall, Belle, Bellis, Beales, Bel, Bayles, Bale, Ball, Bales, Biels, and of other wonderful variations in countries around this world, I send greetings and a good morning! "Cead mile filte (hundred thousand welcomes)
I want to humbly thank you for the honor of being elected as the next President of Clan Bell, International. I accept this responsibility humbly, with a little fear and trepidation but with great pride. I have been told the voter turnout was far greater than our association has seen in the past; the enthusiasm revealed on Facebook, in emails and discussions is encouraging. I want to thank Matt Bell of Florida for also stepping forward by offering to be president and thus to help move our organization further forward. Thank you Matt! May we be strongly engaged together in our strivings for a better future for Clan Bell International and all "Bells" of whatever spelling, wherever you are.
Today, I commit to work with each and every one of you toward building a stronger, more cohesive body (of not always like-minded people of reasonably goodwill) that can shed greater light on who we are and where we came from, so that we might boldly teach our children and their children of their heritage and family accomplishments in a manner that makes them proud, stirs them to go forth each day to “do”, to live, love and work with a confidence not often found in the world these days.
From my preliminary discussions with the Vice-president, Ward Ginn and Alta Jean, there is much I-nay WE- need to do to patch the foundation and strengthen the structure before we can “go boldly into the unknown future.”
A first step to be taken is a review of the old existing corporation that was established in California many years ago to see if is current and pertinent. A stronger, more committed and accountable structure of Board members, officers and association members must be pulled together. My goal is to have a Clan Bell Commissioner/Ambassador in every state in the world where Bells live. Each member is going to be called on to be an Ambassador of Bell good will. We have a history of survival and accomplishment that I bet not 1 in 100 or 1000 Bells knows. We need new approaches, new venues, new volunteers. I want Bells represented in parades, Kirkins, Scottish and other heritage societies and associations. Don’t feel up to sponsoring a tent at a games or festival? You can still support the Clan by attending and being there with “your family” in the parade of tartans. Help us show our unity and commitment.
Over the next few weeks and months, we will be in touch with each other in many new ways as I seek your ideas, input and involvement. So send your ideas in to me, your commissioner. My special thanks go out to the Commissioners and board members, to former President William 'Bill' Bell, Bud and AJ; a Hundred thank-yous! What can I say right now to Ray, Karisa, Kent, David, Matt? A lot! We have much to do! Aye! Let's get about it!
A final thought: If you have not joined in our gathering, please do so. Young, midddle-aged, old; healthy young lass or lad, infirm or worn, each is needed; each has value to add. You will not regret it and you will learn, grow and enjoy. Working, pulling together, there is little the Bells cannot accomplish, with God's help!
If anyone wants to be administror for this group please let me know (By direct message). This way you can edit all pages and add pages. Ideal for a Clan Society.
