An impressive tall tower, dating from the fifteenth century, and rising to four storeys and an attic. The lands were held by the Colvilles from the thirteenth centaur and they built the castle. in 1449 Sir Robert Colville killed John Auchinleck, and the Douglas Earl of Angus besieged and sacked the caste and ravaged the lands. James VI visited Kinnaird in 1617 to hunt, during his only trip to Scotland after the Union of 1603. Kinnaird was sold to the Threiplands in 1674 and the building is still occupied.
