John Davidson was born about 1686, he was about 11 years old when he appears in court records in Ches...Hello, I am looking for information that will lead me to the oldest Davidson ancestor I know of. John Davidson was born about 1686, he was about 11 years old when he appears in court records in Chester Co., PA. He is sold to John Pennell (Quaker) as an indentured servant. He was transported to America on a ship belonging to James or Maurice Trent of Leith, Scotland. There were several other children also in those records in this transaction (14 Dec. 1697, they had arrived in September). It is believed these and many others were Stolen Children of Scotland and shipped to America as a workforce to help develop the Pennsylvania colony. Many of the children tried escaping and others simply killed themselves. My John Davidson served his time, and was released at age 21. I have the linage from John Davidson to myself, what I am looking for is records of him in Scotland, who was his family, where did they come from. I believe I know when my first Davidson arrived in America. That would be John Davidson born about 1686, he shows up in Chester Co. PA in September 1697, sold to a Quaker (John Pennell) as an indentured servant, John Davidson was about 11 years old. I would love to know which family he came from, if anyone has any ideas where to look for records that would prove his ancestry, please let me know.
