Hi Joe, Kyle and other Fairlie Clan members. My maternal grandmother was a Fairly. Our immigrant ancestors to the United States were John Fairlie(1717-1798) and Margaret Stewart(1719-1781). I have been trying to confirm their birth and marriage dates and locations in Scotland for many years now. A John Fairlie was christened 12 Nov 1717 in Irvine Parish, Ayr, Scotland. I think this is my John Fairlie. According to several sources, the couple sailed from Campbelltown, Argyll, Scotland to Cape Fear, North Carolina, USA in 1770, 1771, or 1772. I don't know whether they made 3 trips or just one and my sources are confused. While all records of their arrival at Cape Fear and subsequent verified records in the USA list John Fairlie's wife's name as Margaret Stewart, a professional genealogist that my cousin hired on a trip to Scotland said that he did not believe she was a Stewart because they travelled in the hold of the ship when they immigrated to the USA. They and their descendants were very successful in the USA. So I continue my search of my Fairlie and Stewart ancestors in Scotland. I hope to get to Scotland for feet on the ground research. I would love to meet Fairlie and Stewart kin.

Hello Joe, Kyle and Fairly land tull, I am another person who have the last name of Fairlie. Im was investigating abut the clan, i found a information that links us effectively to clan cunningham and possibly to robert II, descendant of robert the bruce. But in web appear that the tartan of clan Fairlie is the tartan of the clan boyd. So, it is possible a relation with this clan?? I discarded clan Ross, but cunningham or boyd or stewart or bruce, any of this could be an option i think. greetings fromm Chile.
Its def. difficult for me to find any good history on the Fairlie's.
