World Sheepdog Trials 2014
As part of Homecoming Scotland 2014, the trials will be staged in Scotland for the very first time.
The competition welcomes people from across the world to support and celebrate working sheepdogs and watch them compete to very best standard.
Featuring 240 competitors from 24 nations world wide, this sheepdog trial is about showing the care, skill and dedication of a man or woman working with their dog on a flock of sheep, as people have for hundreds of years. The trial is to be held at Fearn Farm, near Tain, Ross Shire by kind permission of the Scott family.
As well as the Sheep Dog Trial there will also be a selection of other attractions throughout the event starting with a Civic Reception and traditional Scottish Welcome in Tain on the afternoon of the 2nd September, and on site there will be various indoor and outdoor arenas showcasing local crafts and trade products. The children's entertainment corner will feature fun displays of dogs, working ducks and dog agility.
There will also be ceilidh music, dance, and demonstrations showing how farm work has changed over the last hundred years. Take in an exhibition of Scottish farm animals, an exhibition of Scotland's Wildlife and Heritage, and coach trips to local visitor attractions.
