Clan MacAulay Gathering and AGM
Over the weekend of 28th to 30th June 2014 (Saturday to Monday), the National Trust for Scotland will stage a spectacular three day festival of history, music, food & drink, literature and the natural world for all the family. The festival site, beside the newly opening state of the art Bannockburn Visitor Centre, will comprise a group of “villages” built around an arena in which the largest re-enactment ever seen in Scotland will mark the 700th Anniversary of this most significant of battles in Scotland’s history.
It features a brutally realistic re-enactment of the Battle of Bannockburn in a specially created festival arena, allowing spectators to witness medieval warfare first-hand.
Alongside the battle re-enactment seen in Scotland, an array of themed villages will be constructed each presenting the sights, sounds and atmosphere of medieval and modern Scotland. There will be a programme packed with music, Scottish food & drink, crafts, literature and outdoor activities, with something for all of the family.
See, taste, smell, hear and discover medieval life in the historical encampments, then watch Robert the Bruce and Edward II lead their armies to battle at Bannockburn Live.
Around 45,000 visitors from around the world including Clan representatives, will be welcomed to Bannockburn to enjoy a distinctive range of activities and performances on several stages in a packed programme. The scope of the event has been extended as a result of generous support and input from Homecoming Scotland 2014, Creative Scotland and Scotland Food & Drink and full details are currently being finalised with the assistance of a leading events management company.
We will hold the AGM over the weekend.
We are asking members to book their own accommodation, and we hope to see as many of you there as possible. Please note this weekend in your diary.
