Following on from the success of the 2009 Gathering in Edinburgh, Clan MacLennan will be holding a number of events in 2014 to promote our Clan and to bring our global family together to celebrate our fine customs and traditions. Details of these events are outlined below along with contact and a link to the booking form. Please support your Clan by coming along to some of these events and meet your extended global family.

(When booking, mention that you are part of the MacLennan Clan Gathering) We advise you to book early to avoid disappointment. There are a number of B&B's in the area should people prefer not to stay at the hotel. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Inverness Castle and 10 minute walk from Inverness town centre).
PROGRAMME OF EVENTS
THURSDAY 03 JULY
The first of our Gathering events will be held in the Lovat Suite of the Beaufort Hotel taking the form of a Genealogy Day which is being organised and run by our Clan Genealogist Bruce McLennan who has been co-ordinating the Clan MacLennan Database which will be launched during the Gathering. Please complete your own ancestor information before attending. Even if you are unable to attend the Gathering, we invite you to contribute to this project by mailing in this form.
09:30 am – 12:30 am – Lovat Suite, Beaufort Hotel
09:30 am – Talk – Introduction to MacLennan Genealogy by Bruce McLennan, Clan Genealogist (repeated PM).
11:30 am – Optional special genealogy interest group for Contin / Strathconon / Urray.
12:30 pm – 1:30 pm - Lunch will be available in the Beaufort Hotel at your own cost.
1:30 pm - 4:00 pm – Lovat Suite, Beaufort Hotel
1:30 pm – Repeat of Talk – Introduction to MacLennan Genealogy by Bruce McLennan, Clan Genealogist.
3:00 pm – Optional special genealogy interest group for Gairloch / Applecross.
4:00 pm onwards – Reception, Beaufort Hotel
Meet & Greet
Representatives of our Scottish Committee will be present in the reception and bar area of the Beaufort Hotel to welcome guests. This will be an opportunity to raise any queries, pick up name badges and perhaps indulge in a dram or two whilst meeting new Clansfolk or re-connecting with old acquaintances. This will be an ideal opportunity to meet and get to know your Chief and Scottish Committee.
A bar supper will be available at the Beaufort Hotel at your own cost.

FRIDAY 04 JULY
The Clan Parliament will take place in the Town House of Inverness and we encourage as many as possible to attend. This is your opportunity to have an input into where Clan MacLennan is going in the future. This will be followed by a presentation and launch of the Clan Genealogy Database by Bruce McLennan.

2:30 pm – 4:30 pm, Bught Park, Inverness
Mini Highland Games, co-ordinated by Alastair MacLennan
6:00 pm – Beaufort Hotel
A coach will collect guests from the hotel and transport them to the ceilidh in Dores, Lochness side.
We have factored in a 20 minute stop off at Tesco store for people to purchase refreshments (drinks) for the evening as there will be no pay bar at the ceilidh.
6:40 pm – Arrive at the Dores Inn on the shores of Loch Ness where you can purchase a drink at the bar at your own cost and weather permitting, bring it down to the loch-side to admire the outstanding views down the Great Glen. We hope to have a group photograph taken from this location.
7:30 pm – We shall be piped from the Dores Inn through the Chief's home village of Dores to the Dores Parish Hall for the ceilidh.
8:00 pm – Dinner will be served. The menu will comprise of seafood, stovies and cranachan. We shall be looking for volunteers to help serve the food and clear after each course. The meal will be followed by music from Creaky Dores (Uncle Ronnie MacLennan and friends) followed by some ceilidh music.
There will be an opportunity to partake in some Scottish Country Dancing. Anyone who wishes to contribute to the ceilidh whether it be to sing a song or play some music, please do so.
12:00 pm – Coach departs Dores and returns to the Beaufort Hotel, Inverness (20 minute drive)
The dress code for the ceilidh is kilt / casual attire. For example, a man could wear a kilt with a jumper / sweater or just a casual shirt / polo shirt with their kilt. A women could wear tartan or casual clothes with a tartan scarf. This is the informal evening and we would encourage you to dress for comform so that you enjoy the relaxed nature of the ceilidh.
The cost of this event will be £20 per person (Children under twelve £10 and those not requiring coach £15).
Please advise of any special dietary requirements. A vegetarian option will be available for those who notify us in advance.
SATURDAY 05 JULY
Day trip to Eilean Donan Castle passing through Kintail, the homeland of the MacLennan Clan. The coach trip takes us down the north side of Loch Ness and deep into the west coast where the scenery is exceptional.
10:00 am – depart from Beaufort Hotel by coach
11:30 am – guided tour of Eilean Donan Castle
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm – Lunch at Dornie
2:30 pm – Depart Dornie
4:00 pm – Return to Beaufort Hotel, Inverness
The cost of this trip which includes coach transport, the tour of Eilean Donan Castle and lunch at the Dornie Hotel will be £35 per person.
7:00 pm – 7:30 pm - Pre dinner drinks at the bar (at your own cost)
7:30 pm – Clan Dinner, Beaufort Hotel. The top table will be piped in shortly after 7:30 pm. Good quality food and wine will be provided followed by after dinner speeches and entertainment.
Dress code is black tie.
Cost is £40 per person.
SUNDAY 06 JULY
11:00 am - Church Service, Ness Bank Church, Inverness (5 mins walk down the hill from the Beaufort Hotel. We encourage people to wear some tartan.
1:00 pm – Closing speeches and farewells
For those wishing to stay on for lunch, this can be provided at the Beaufort Hotel again at your own cost.
