Clan Crawford Home-Coming Tour 2014

Tue 24 June
Arrive at Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports.
Welcome Dinner at Craufurdland Castle.
Wed 25 June
Today the bus will leave at 9.30 and travel to Crawford to visit the Castle ruins and Crawfordjohn to see the ancient church and its museum. Return to Craufurdland Castle, via the lovely market town of Strathaven for a lunch and the historic Loudon Hill of William Wallace fame. Once back at Craufurdland Adity and Simon will take tours around the castle with the tales of Craufurd of Craufurdland Past.
Buffet Dinner at Craufurdland Castle.
Thu 26 June
Visit at Auchinames House then will visit Kilbirnie Auld Kirk and ruins of Kilbirnie Castle. A picnic lunch is included. After lunch we will carry on with visits to Baidland,and visit the Castle ruins of Portencross followed by a stop to see the ruins of Crosbie Castle then on to visit Loudoun Castle.
Dinner will be at a local restaurant (not included) with transport being organised on request.
Fri 27 June
Today the bus will leave at 9 o’clock for Edinburgh for free site seeing. You may wish to visit government buildings such as the National Library or the New Register House in Princes Street, Edinburgh where you are able to access all information regarding genealogy for the whole of Scotland. Enjoy some free time to enjoy the historical sites in Edinburgh. Lunch and Dinner are not included. And bus will collect mid evening back to Craufurdland and other lodgings.

Tues 1st July
Visits to the Crawford seats at Ardmillan, Newark Castle near Ayr, then onto Dumfries House for a late lunch, followed by a tour of Dumfries House, plus visit Lefnoris within the grounds and also to the near-by ruins of the octagonal keep at Terringzean Castle. Finally stopping at the believed site of Kerse Castle.
Dinner will be at a local restaurant (not included) with transport being organised on request.
Wed 2nd July
Today the bus will leave at 9 o'clock and head to the centre of Dunfermline, the ancient capital of Scotland. Places of interest that the group will visit today are: Dunfermline Abbey and Palace ruins where King Robert the Bruce is buried beneath the Abbey pulpit. William Wallace's mother is buried in the graveyard under a thorn
