Truly a fantastic opening event in west Lochaber for the main part of the 2014 Year of Homecoming events in the area. Leaving Fort William in the morning by the threetimes winner of 'Top Train Journey in the World' Jacobite Steam Train (otherwise known as the Harry Potter, Hogwarts Express), we leave the shadow of the UK's tallest mountain, past Neptune's Staircase at Banavie, past the Jacobite monument at Glenfinnan, across the Harry Potter viaduct, out west to commando and Jacobite country, past Prince Charlie's arrival and departure points, to the most westerly station on the UK mainland, to the deepest loch in Europe, across the shortest river in Europe, to the busiest herring port in Europe, across the sea to Skye, march to the Clan Donald Centre, fun and Highland games, crafts, food, drink, award winning useum of the Isles, music, back on the boat and then back on the train for a late evening steamer to Fort William. Who could ask for anything more! This is unique, terrific, and not to be missed!
