Glenna McNeil - My grandfather, Thomas McNeil, immigrated to the U.S. from Glasgow October 1909, with his mother, brother and sister. My great grandfather (also Thomas McNeil) immigrated first (July 1909) and the rest of the family followed a few months later. I was blessed to be able to visit Scotland in 2007 and again in 2011. During my first trip I traveled to Ayr and was able to find the street where each of my great, great grandparents (John McNeil and Ann Jane Maguire) lived (across from one another) before marrying. I also found the church where they were married, in 1861. Available records have allowed me to go back only as far as 1798. Scotland is a beautiful country, with beautiful people, I’m proud of my Scottish heritage and I’m happy for my name that is a daily reminder of that lineage. Thank you again.
