My third greatgrandparents were John (1795-1861) and Elenor (1791-1854)Huston. My 2nd great-grandmother was Mary Jane Huston, born in Kilrea, Londonderry, Ireland,in 1819. They emigrated to the U.S. in 1829, and settled in Philadelphia, where John and Elenor later died. Mary Jane Huston married John Kidd in Philadelphia, and he died c. 1859. She, her sister Elenor, and brother Robert Huston and their families moved to Pepin, Wis. sometime before 1870, and remained there or close by, until their deaths. I know very little about the Huston family, other than John Huston was a weaver.
If anyone knows anything about the Huston families of Northern Ireland in the early 19th century, I would love to speak with you! From what I gather, the Huston's may have emigrated from the Glasgow area of Scotland.
I just had my ancestry dna done but so far don't know if I have any "cousins" in Scotland. There were many matches....
As an aside, early spelling of the surname was Huston, but later on, some family members spelled it Houston.

I have also traced descendants of family who emigrated to Canada and to Australia, although the latter connection has died out. William to help and would especially like to hear from Laura as she's also in Northern Ireland. Happy hunting for Houstons worldwide!!!
Yes, Laura, I did do mine at Ancestry.com. Tried to send a private message on her to you but said it wasn't able to. Would love to find out if we're related!
