Sir Alexander Napier (circa 1440)
Sir Alexander Napier became Lord Provost of Edinburgh. He was wounded while rescuing the widow of James I from rebels who had captured her and her second husband. He was rewarded by James II who made his Controller of the Royal Household in 1440, and Vice Admiral of Scotland in 1461.
John Napier (1550-1617)
John Napier was the celebrated inventor of logarithms and was considered to be the greatest mathematician of his age. He was also renowned for being an advanced agriculturist.
Francis Napier (circa 1834)
Francis Napier was a gifted academic who received degrees from the Universities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Harvard. He became a diplomat and friend of Jefferson Davis. He also served as acting Viceroy of India in 1872.
