Photo of Braemar Castle, Aberdeenshire, taken in 1904. The castle was built in 1628 by John Erskine, Earl of Mar, but now it is owned by the chief of Clan Farquharson.

The castle is leased to the community of Braemar to be kept up and operated as a tourist attraction. My wife and I visited last July, and it's well worth the effort to see! There is an ongoing fundraising effort to pay for urgently needed roof repairs. If you haven't, get involved.
