Clan Caledonia is a Scottish re-enactment group focusing on multi-era Scottish history. Clan Caledonia is part of the Maryborough Caledonian Society Inc which was established in 1926 to keep alive the old Scottish Traditions. In 1927 the society formed a
pipe band and both are still present today.
Clan Caledonia is made up of members of the society who wish to re-enact all facets of Scottish history and culture. The Highlander Swordsmen is made up of those of us who wish to keep alive the Scottish style of sword fighting as depicted in several historical texts and manuscripts. Highlander Swordsmen's standing orders are described in the Clan Codex.
Clan band members play the traditional Scottish music of the great Highland pipes and drums. They still wear the traditional uniforms from the early days of this society (1927) as well as an assortment of historical Highland wear from the 18th century.
On the cultural side we hold several Gatherings throughout the year at which traditional Scottish cooking, poetry, address to the haggis and other historical traditions are celebrated.
The Clan is based at our own hall, the Maryborough Scottish Community Hall in Maryborough Qld.
