I traced the family genealogy generation by generation, using historical society, county, Library of Congress, grave site records and family records back to New Jersey. This was the first entry for the family I found - a land purchase in Somerset:"57 Sir John Dalrymple, Feb. 17, 1692, on N. Branch at Riddle's – 500 acres". The family then established itself, primarily in Hunterdon County.
