The keep dates form the fourteenth century, although it was substantially remodelled down the years. The property was held by the Frasers, and Sir Simon Fraser defeated the English at the Battle of Roslin Moor in 1302, but he was later captured and executed, with some barbarity, by the English four years later. The property passed by marriage to the Hays in 1312, then to the Douglases and to the Earls of Wemyss and March.View Less
