INAUGURAL EVENT

It is with great pleasure that the Bundanoon Highland Gathering Committee announce that for the ongoing entertainment of the public they have endorsed the introduction of a NEW heavy weight event to be performed by selected members the Tartan Warriors:

"Australian Highland Heavy Weight Events Championship"

This heavy event has 5 separate individual challenges Shot Putt, Weight for Distance, Weight for Height, Heavy Caber, Hammer Throw

The Committee of the Bundanoon Highland Gathering would like to sincerely thank Highland Titles for their generosity in sponsoring the Tartan Warriors for this inaugural championship event

There will be a perpetual trophy awarded to the overall winner of all 5 challenges Highland Titles will be making a special presentation to the Winner of the event Between 6 to 8 competitors will be performing, some may even compete in the Stones of Manhood A start time has yet to be finalised but probably immediately after the opening ceremony, the event will conclude prior to the Major heavy event “The Bundanoon Stones of Manhood” at 3.10pm

I remember this tune well, 1976? Band of the Black Watch playing this tune in Colchester, Essex, and if my memory serves me right
The Bandmaster was Rogerson and the Pipe major was Dippie
