I was adopted and just recently found my true Scottish roots. My grandfather was a Cowie (Cowe) and was born in India (but his dad was from Lanarkshire and in the military) and immigrated to Canada. My grandmother was a McBean and it was her father who immigrated to Canada. Therefore I consider myself first generation "American" (USA). Perhaps this explains why my bonds to the old land are so strong. Anyways, the McBean line connects with Frasers, MackIntosh, Cameron and MacGillevrays all who were from Daviot/Dunlichty (Highlands) area and Inverness. Would love to know more about them but am stuck in about 1800 on ancestry. If you might know anything or have any hints, LMK.
Oh and Im going to be visiting Scotland again this summer, staying mostly in the Forres area up near Inverness. Im very excited!
