It's mid august and feels like autumn - where had the sun and heat gone?

must be the worst summer for years in terms of sun and heat here in Scotland
Marilyn Sloper
How warm is Scotland, usually? Do you have very short summers? Here in New England we get about 2 months at most of strong sun/heat. (July/Aug). June starts out in the 60/40F range day/night. Mid July is when our heat really hits and continues till about the last week of August when it starts to...
Marilyn Sloper
I should have said "Here in northern Massachusetts" instead of "here in New England...".

It been about 14c today and its been fine. Yesterday may have been about 20c but that was an exception this summer. The season are all mixed up now with any moth could be good.
Marilyn Sloper
Here in the mountains it is 84F/28.9C. Normal for August this high up. And you are quite right; the seasons are becoming mixed up. We seem to have more years of Winter/Summer than Winter/Spring/Summer/Fall.

seldom get to 28c and if we did we'd all be dying of heat exhaustion. We can get 20's regularly but again depends on where you are in Scotland some places wetter than others. I'm on south west coast
Marilyn Sloper
How can you grow crops with temps in high 60's? 20C is 68F here and 68 isn't great for tomatoes, peppers, squash, corn, eggplant. What can you grow?
william johnstone
we would have a greenhouse (glasshouse for growing tomatos, cucumber etc - much too cold outside
Marilyn Sloper
I think I would enjoy living in Scotland with it's low temps. A greenhouse would be a perfect solution. You get the best of both worlds; cool living conditions and a way to grow veggies without dealing with weeds.
william johnstone
we get plenty of weeds. When its nice there is no better place to be than scotland
