My mother's maiden name is MacPherson and I know that her father's people came to the US by way of Canada. Unfortunately I didn't get much ancestral/familial information from my mother or grandmother...My mother's maiden name is MacPherson and I know that her father's people came to the US by way of Canada. Unfortunately I didn't get much ancestral/familial information from my mother or grandmother before they passed (who knew it would happen so early?) so I've not much to go on. I know my maternal grandfather's name was Ambrose Robert MacPherson. I'm not sure if he was born in Canada or the US but since my grandmother was born in New Brunswick and she married at 16 before coming to the US I'd be willing to bet he was also a Cannuck. I'm trying desperately to not only find my heritage but also embrace the Scottish culture, beginning with a trip in Oct. 2016. Looking to spend some time in the Highlands and Galloway. Would appreciate any contacts in any area as friends of any place is better than none in no place!
