Hello, I live in Spokane and I am a fur trade reenactor. We are called, Friends of Spokane House. It is the site of Fort Spokane built by David Thompson of the North West Co. on the Middle Fork of the Spokane River in 1810. We dress in buckskins and present the history of Spokane house and the fur trade that went on before the border of Canada and the US was established. We present the history of the Hudson Bay Co. and North West Co. and demonstrate the equipment and gee-gaus they would have to trade to the Indians for beaver pelts. Because Spokane House was a North West Co. trade center and maned by Scots, Irish and English I dress in the Murray tartan kilt. We make a primitive camp and the students are bused to our site at Spokane House, Kettle Falls. Some times we travel to the schools. The students are wide eyed. Our family linage through DNA, show I am 85% Scott, now I know why I like bagpipes. Photo later, Tom
David Thompson was also an explorer of British Columbia Canada. Two rivers bare his name, north Thompson and Thompson river runs into the Fraser river.
