Bob Turnbull (1894-1946)

Robert Hamilton Turnbull was a Scottish footballer who played in the English leagues throughout the 1920s and into the '30s. He served in the Royal Corps of Signals during the First World War before joining Arsenal in 1921. In the November of 1924 Turnbull was sold to Charlton Athletic after having made 66 appearances for Arsenal, and scoring 28 goals. He moved to Chelsea in February 1925 where he enjoyed a successful three year period scoring 58 goals in 87 matches. In 1928 he left Chelsea and had brief spells at a number of different clubs, ending his playing career at Crystal Palace, where he went on to be a coach. Bob Turnbull died in 1946 at the age of 52.

George Turnbull (1809-1889)



George Turnbull was a railway engineer who was Chief Engineer of the construction of the first railway line between Calcutta and Delhi between 1851 and 1863. Born in Luncarty in Perth & Kinross, Turnbull was educated at Perth Grammer school, and then studied Latin, Greek, and mathematics at the University of Edinburgh.
He married twice and had five children. George Turnbull died in 1889 at the age of 79.
