The Macneil arrives at Kisimul Castle, Isle of Barra

Rory Macneil, 47th Chief of Clan Macneil of Barra, arrives at Kisimul Castle on Friday 1st November 2013. He is welcomed ashore by children from the local school on Barra. The Macneil is joined by Ian Walford, Chief Executive of Historic Scotland and Alasdair Allan MSP for the Western Isles.
Kisimul Castle is to undergo major conservation, archaeological and interpretation work as part of a plan between Historic Scotland and Macneil of Barra. An investment of over £200,000 will be made to conserve and future-proof the site, with half of the funds coming from Clan Macneil members worldwide.
