2012 Clan Currie Gathering and MacMhuirich Symposium - South Uist, Scotland

The Clan Currie Society is pleased to announce that their 2012 Clan Gathering and MacMhuirich Symposium will be held August 24-26, 2012 on the beautiful island of South Uist in Scotland's Outer Hebrides.

This brief video takes the viewer to Stilligarry - the old "Township of the Bard" - on South Uist. The ruins are of the MacMhuirich bard's home. The MacMhuirich's of Stilligarry served as Hereditary Bards to the MacDonalds of Clanranald. As part of the program, a memorial cairn will be built there in tribute to their bardic ancestors. Clan Currie is soliciting financial donations to help defray the cost of this important monument.

Clansfolk are also invited to submit a stone from their own homeland in representation of the far reaching influence of their Scottish ancestors. To date, stones have been submitted from Currie's in the US, Canada, Scotland and South Africa.
